Dossier: The Technician
- Prominent at utilizing technical expertise under heavy fire situations.
- Biotic abilities developed under leadership of the “Argent” mercenary band, honed to serve as a means of protecting squad members.
While born and raised on the Migrant Fleet ship the “Ameerah” the Quarian has proven to be of interest. Having undergone unsafe exposure to Element Zero and miraculously surviving a life threatening operation during her pilgrimage, granting her biotic ability which is a rare feat among their race. After her recovery she returned from the flotilla to reappear under the leadership of the Argent mercenary band. This exposed her to the experience of heavy pressure combat with high standard equipment and allowed her to develop and execute both her technical skills and biotic abilities under high stress situations while still being directed under an organization that has followed the battle protocols of a military operation. However it appears the Quarian’s most vital task within the organization was piloting, having built upon her existing knowledge it seems the Quarian appears to have an impressive amount of talent for it. The combination of her technical expertise as well as her ability to assist a combat situation with her biotics should prove her to be a worthy asset to this operation. It should be noted that her relation to the Dresden’s captain should make her a fairly easy candidate to recruit.

Within a teamwork situation Lina brings her traits and talents to the fight in a manner which she can be of most use. Making an effort to stay out of direct fire Lina compensates for this by turning her skills into a method of covering and supporting others. Using her technical knowledge as her most prominent weapon and her biotic skills as a minor, allowing her to use these skills to open holes in the enemy’s defense, break down their shields or limit their ability to return fire. Offering suppressing fire for her teammates and opening up their options to attack hostile targets she effectively flourishes as she long as she avoids long exposure to enemy fire. Having her as an addition to any squad provides protection for other members and allows them to safely practice their own specializations.

Distinguishable Features: The Quarian people as a whole carry a testimony with them as a reminder of their tragic past, this being in the form of their enviro-suits. Like any of her kin Lina shares this faith and carries this with her by having to confine herself within the unfortunate yet majestic form of her suit. Due to the need of the Quarians to hide themselves away in these suits many people do not understand or trust the Quarian people, reality states them people have problems trusting people who do not expose their faces to the world. However those who do understand also know that this faith the Quarian people are resigned to is something deeply saddening to them, as they would wish for no more than to return to their home world and take their first steps in ridding themselves of their suits. Lina herself has, like most of her kind, grown accustomed to suited life and while she can only dream of shedding her suit and being among her family without their accursed veil she does do as much as she can to make her suited life as comfortable as possible. Lina’s suit is like, many of her race, elegantly designed with an emphasis on detail. The majority of her enviro-suit is constructed out of a sophisticated elastic fabric which both provides sufficient movement and protective capabilities, this fabric being colored in a dark gray tint. On the outside her suit is provided with a few well concealed and useful pockets as well as extra reinforced padding at critical areas. As any Quarian’s enviro-suit Lina’s suit is tightly fitted as another layer around her body, as such it shows all of Lina’s body curves and assets without any real deviation from her non-suit appearance. As is standard issue Lina’s suit is equipped with emergency seals that can isolate certain parts of her suit in case of tear or breach, also her suit is designed to be compatible with her omni-tool so that she can monitor and maintain her suit to her own convenience.
Yet it is the most outer layer of the suit that strikes most people, leaving them with an impression of beauty when beholding a Quarian’s suit. Lina’s suit has a decorative layer on top of it that serves as a sign of individualism, with details mirrored after her own preferences. This layer could best be compared, in human terms, as a partial (open) wrap dress. Made out of surprisingly durable yet soft fabric it covers up a major part of Lina’s body, this mainly being the waist area. Leaving the shoulders bare it is put on through armholes and then wrapped around the waist area to tighten it, covering the entirety of her back however allowing a considerable amount of free space for her chest area through a gap, both ends coming together at the waist where it is tightened by a belt to fasten it. This layer of clothing is dyed in a particularly refreshing white color which brightens up the otherwise dark color scheme of the suit, the pattern on this clothing is similar to a majestic depiction of plants these being in a silver color so that it is highlighted on the fabric’s white color. The belt which fastens it is constructed out of a flame retardant and flexible fabric, being considerably big in size and coming with various small placeholders it allows Lina to store a variety of small utility devices on her belt which can aid her when she needs to repair tech.
However the element of the suit that usually draws most attention is the helmet area, as through its protective shielding (usually) only two bright white eyes are visible combined with the tendency for female Quarians to wear a shroud on top of their heads it frequently leaves the beholder with a sense of mystery for what truly lies behind this mask of protection. Lina’s shroud which gracefully covers up the majority of her helmet is made out of the same fabric as her secondary suit layer and dyed in the same bright color, as well as carrying the same pattern on it. Her shroud extends throughout the entirety of the backside of her head, only leaving the front of her face visible, her shroud ends at the lower end of her neck where it is connected to the other side of the shroud through a simplistic fastening strap. The face that virtually every person Lina meets will associate her with is the protective shielding that stands between her true hidden appearance and the outer world, this shielding colored in a light blue (with a touch of silver) taint. Below this plate rests the secondary key element which is her mouth piece, a rather small shaped dot constantly emitting a constant soothing white light, only halting and flicking back on during the midst of conversation depicting the act of speech. When people talk about Lina this is the face that will spring to mind as it is the only thing they can see aside those pair of mystical obscured eyes, a fascination to some and a reason of suspicion for others.
Standing a respectable 5’7 feet and weighing a balanced 124 lbs she is comes over as a well balanced young lady, if not appearing a little on the frail side. Her body posture being gracefully sturdy and her body language giving of a rather shy feel. She of course possesses, what many considered one of the key differences between Quarians and Humans, only 3 firmly built fingers and 3 supportive toes (one which is not visible within the preformed shape of her boots). As a Quarian she appears as nothing out of the ordinary however under that helmet of hers within the confines of her troubled little head rests something that is definitely most uncommon between Quarians. Lina frequently took on jobs repairing damaged ships, however this made her come into contact with exposure to Element Zero, while the exposure luckily didn’t kill her it did affect her body even while she was unaware of it. This made her a viable candidate for an experiment she was forced to partake in to pay of a growing debt. The end result of a questionable experiment, involving involuntary (life threatening) brain surgery was the placement of biotic implants within the head of Lina. In combination with the exposure to Element Zero she experienced when in her mother’s womb and the exposure while working on a damaged ship, allowed the implants to properly function for her and the experiment to be successful in granting Lina biotic abilities, however to a lesser degree than was aimed for. She herself is not extremely talented with handling biotics and while she has a firm grasp of her powers today she is not capable enough to truly use them to their full potential.
Psychological Profile: Not much effort is required to deduct that Lina is rather timid person at heart, this is even more apparent after exchanging even the smallest amounts of words with her. While her intellectual capabilities aren’t in any instance the cause of this feature Lina does often experience that she has a hard time conversing with people, especially when she isn’t very much acquainted with them. She has difficulties opening herself up to others, even if the person has grown on her, much more so than others of her kind. This problem stems from the fact that Lina is a very shy individual, much more so around unfamiliar faces. Lina however has tried to improve on this trait of hers and more than often expresses herself through help of expressive gestures. Her bashfulness often hampers her capability to fluently converse as it has her more than often searching for the right words or stuttering over the ones she actually speaks. The odd thing however is that Lina’s social problem is only present when she converses with any other species than her own. She can talk to any unfamiliar Quarian much more openly as if it were a friend or long time acquaintance however with any other race (be it Human, Turian, Asari or such) she tends to become much more retracted and careful. Her social disability is both caused by both her timorous nature and several tragic experiences which she had during her pilgrimage. These experiences have shaped her in a sense that she is afraid to become closely attached to other species, forcing herself to keep her relationship with them on a superficial level. Though Lina’s heart isn’t made of steel so when she becomes involved with someone long enough (even those of other species) she will lower her barriers very carefully, letting them get close to her. However the progress of this goes at a rather slow pace due to Lina’s carefulness. Her rather dodgy health more than often limits her interaction with others to a minimum, as she tends to spend a lot of her time on her own.
While a timid Quarian by nature most can agree on that Lina’s primary defining trait would have to be “passionate”. Lina is always very involved in what she does be it piloting a space ship, fixing an engine, partaking in combat or helping a friend. She tends to immerse herself greatly in what she does and often transcends her initial careful nature when in the process of her task. While doing what she enjoys (piloting, repairing or constructing tech, etc.) Lina tends to express herself in a cheerful and enthusiastic way, often trying to educate others who show interest in her work. Many have remarked that her behavior and expressions while doing an activity she enjoys is similar to those of a happy child, however when confronted with this Lina becomes embarrassed and attempts of compose herself. If confronted with a more serious task (mainly combat) Lina tends to be thoroughly concentrated, allowing for little talk from her side. Focused on the task at hand she observes the many elements that present them to her and takes these into account. Due to her nature she does not possess many leading capabilities, however it does make her an excellent companion and squad mate as she is highly capable in closely following orders and instructions.
Though highly enthusiastic in her preferred tasks and focused in serious matters Lina has another trait to her that not many would expect from somebody so reluctant to expose herself to others. Lina feels very much for the problems of others so much that she frequently cannot stop herself from helping others in any way she can. This tends to apply to more close acquaintances and friends as she often does not get close enough to strangers to learn of their problems. More than anything Lina will try to help those she feels for by comforting them, while this is somewhat a challenge for her considering her social disadvantage, she does this by listening to their story and sharing some words of kindness and possible hope. Frequently, when she cannot put herself into words, she will try to comfort others through touch. This act often reveals to others that Lina cares for those around her, even to a degree of friendship, even if she isn’t always able to show it. Due to her strong feelings towards the people around her Lina has the tendency to sometimes get easily persuaded or charmed, the latter often being only superficial or temporary. Her strong feelings however to make her somewhat susceptible to being tricked or mislead, this depending on the situation in which she finds herself.
As a Quarian she of course is very involved with the Quarian cause and the wellbeing of the Migrant Fleet. Like any of other of her race the flotilla has a special part in her heart, her home is easily one of the most important things in her life. Even though she does not serve in the flotilla directly she does do her part to secure the wellbeing of the Migrant Fleet. Lina does this primarily by sending any resources (mainly Element Zero, as she has connections whom through she acquire such) she gets her hands upon and sending it back home, aside that she sends back any data or info she deems valuable to the flotilla. So even during her service on other ships Lina is still known to have the Migrant Fleet as her number one priority, though as of far this has not obstructed her service on other ships. Her pilgrimage taught her the value of her home but also the magnificence of the world beyond it, while her pilgrimage was very hard and even somewhat traumatizing in some parts Lina was still able to witness that the magnificence of the worlds outside her home contain so much beauty and potential. She was so impressed with this that she fell in love with it, this was partially the reason why she does not serve in the flotilla or at least not directly. And while so frequently yearns for home she is happy to be out in open space, traveling to other worlds and doing what she can for the good of her people in her own way.
As any of her kind Lina has been thoroughly educated in the field of machinery and technical repairs by her fellow Quarians. Due to exposure to it from a young age Lina has harnessed an firm grasp on the subject, making her a tech specialists of respectable expertise. One of her most impressive and useful feats is the ability to hack and repair tech under the pressure of battle, making her a valuable member of any squad that requires technical support. However Lina’s technical skills, while impressive, are not on a par of those who spent their entire focus on the subject: “Engineers”. Compared to the knowledge of the engineers Lina’s skills will in the end be inferior, this due a specific reason. While Lina originally started out as an aspiring Quarian engineer, still majorly studying and learning the ropes of the skill, Lina was subjected to surgery during the course of her life that granted her the skills of biotics through manually regulated exposure to Element Zero and the placement of neural implants. While this surgery took an immense toll on Lina’s health it did succeed in granting her biotic abilities, however unlike the rare Quarians that are actually born with biotic ability she obtained these through unnatural, this being a feat which is frowned upon by her fellow Quarians. However due to the circumstances Lina was subjected to and the events that took place in the whole course of her gaining these powers she was considered a victim rather than black sheep, while many can look past this there are still some among her who mock her due to this stigma. Due to her gaining to biotic powers she has also spent considerable amount in practicing and master these skills to their most practical use, as such her knowledge of the technical suffered under it as she needed to divide her attention between tech and biotics.
Preferred Equipment:
Name: M-96 Mattock
Classification: Assault Rifle
Manufacturer: Unknown
Restriction: None
Description: Medium-range, semi-automatic rifle. The Mattock is a hybrid weapon with an assault rifle's low heat production and a sniper rifle's punch. Marksmen favor its increased power over that of an assault rifle to bring down hardened targets. Its lack of a full-auto setting is advertised as a feature rather than a shortcoming as it curbs a soldier's tendency to spray inaccurate fire under stress. Having tried up many rifles when being a member of the Argent mercenary band, Lina eventually settled with the Mattock for its well-rounded specs and for its great use as a weapon to provide bursts of suppressing fire.
Modifications:
-Assault Rifle Precision Scope
Simple 4x optical scope enhances stability while zoomed. Increases accuracy while moving and taking damage. Opening up the door for more precise shots, this increases the potential of any weapon’s long-range precision and allows Lina to offer long range support.
- Assault Rifle Stability Damper
Distributes recoil with sliding system of counterweights compatible with kinetic coil generators. Reduces weapon kickback. This allows the weapon to fire more shots in succession without throwing off the user’s aim completely.
Name: N7 Eagle
Classification: Heavy Pistol
Manufacturer: Alliance R&D
Restriction: Alliance
Description: When the Alliance's Offensive Handgun Project received funding to update one of its designs, its engineers chose to redesign the already impressive Phalanx pistol. Like its predecessor, the Eagle is a compact, fully automatic pistol that delivers unprecedented accuracy and punch with a rapid firing rate. The Eagle is named after the Desert Eagle, a classic handgun which gained a romantic reputation among gun collectors, thanks to its popularity in 20th and 21st-century Earth action movies. Lina obtained this specific weapon through a requisition order when she joined the Dresden, as a sign of goodwill from the Alliance.
Modifications:
- Magazine Upgrade
Increases magazine capacity, allowing more shots before reload. Giving more room to maneuver and offer a more consistent assault.
-Pistol Piercing Mod
Capacitor boosts kinetic coil generators, increasing shot penetration. Allowing for that extra little punch against armor.
Preferred Armor:
Name: Quarian-Environmental-Protection Suit
Classification: Full Body Suit
Manufacturer: Migrant Fleet
Restriction: Quarian
Description: Custom crafted and tailor-made for the wearer itself according to the regulations and complying to the grade of quality set by the Quarian people, this suit is unique for every wearer that is granted one. A suit designed to entirely encase the wearer’s body while allowing the wearer to be comfortable and retain maximum flexibility, basically acting as an additional layer of skin so to speak. Constructed and designed, through countless concept upgrades and tweaks, to provide ultimate protection from outside environmental sources and to prevent the wearer of coming into contact with foreign bacteria, this suit has the ability to fully grant and sustain the wearer’s full life functions so that they can wear the suit at any hour and at any day. While sublimely elegant in design (even matching the wearer’s personal flair and taste according to their demands) the suit allows for maximum flexibility so that the wearer can move without any restriction, demanding no additional physical effort or providing any physical strain upon the wearer. Aside from protection against foreign sources the suit is also able to serve as armor, and while this is not highly recommended it is durable enough to withstand certain degrees of punishment. Having drawn inspiration from the Hard Suit and various other technological sources the suit utilizes a similar “Dual-Layer” system that Hard Suits use, however in this case the two separate layers being for more shallow to allow for more mobility. While the outer layer is more sturdy in order to withstand contact with the outer habitat it is also equipped with the option to automatically generate kinetic barriers for effective combat protection, the inner layer consist out of soft fabric made to be easy on an easily irritated skin and to be useable in conjunction with wearers that have allergies.
Additionally the suit is divided into numerous different parts by “combat seals”, making the suit a collection of different parts rather than one whole suit. When a certain area is breached the combat seals will automatically seal said area of to prevent further contamination and to reduce the spread of infection, additionally the suit is able to distribute antibiotics into the breached area to fight of infection more effectively. Both the kinetic barrier & the combat seal function are linked to a VI system, which is integrated within the suit itself. This VI system can be controlled and managed through the use of an Omni-tool, due to this the suit is compatible with software that is downloaded and installed by using the Omni-tool as a medium, however only software that is specifically designed for the Quarian environmental suit will be functional. The VI also monitors and sustains the wearer’s various life signs (for example: Oxygen, heartbeat, brain activity, etc.), these signs are constantly recorded and stored within the Omni-tool databank so that they can be recalled for examination at a moment’s notice. Finally, the suit also comes equipped with a helmet which the wearer can observe the outer world with. Fitting comfortably around the head of the wearer, the suit comes equipped with a breathing module that filters oxygen which it draws from outer sources (the suit does possess a storage that can hold a limited amount of oxygen), optionally the wearer can modify the module to disable olfactory sensors so that the wearer remains unaffected by smells from the outer environment. Aside from a voice module that allows for optimal vocal interaction to be received within and sent from the suit, it is most prominently equipped with a sectional layer that allows the wearer to have vision without the use of VI or camera aid. This layer is highly reinforced to withstand impact and exposure to outer elements, and while not impossible to penetrate it has sufficient protective qualities to guarantee the wearer’s safety. The outer side of the layer is shaded in a distinctive color specific to each individual suit, this is to protect the wearer from harmful UV rays or similar sources, while this facial layer is able to be detached from the suit it is not recommended as it exposes the wearer to a fair amount of hazardous risk.
The suit is more than often custom decorated to fit the wearer’s personal taste and to reflect their personality more clearly, psychological tests have revealed that this is an optimal method for Quarians to effectively express themselves as an individual. While these decorative cloths vary from suit to suit they are mainly constructed from the same fabric, which is designed to withstand exposure to most harsh environmental hazards while still easy to clean.
Preferred Equipment:
Name: UnexTech Omni-Tool V.3
Classification: Quarian Omni-Tool
Manufacturer: UnexTech
Restriction: None
Description: Having used omni-tool operating systems produced by various companies as the stepping stones and inspiration for their own product, UnexTech succeeded in making their own version of the omni-tool which contains all the functions one has come to expect of any version of the omni-tool. However due to the heavy competition from rival companies UnexTech’s product went mostly unnoticed by the masses, as there was no major distinction from their product in contrast with other (more affordable) models. As such they made the decision to focus on a more specific audience, shifting their product to become more aligned with the use the Quarians would require of an omni-tool. After having made the decision UnexTech began distributing their product with controls specifically designed to be comfortable for Quarian use, additionally their version of the omni-tool came packaged with several software applications Quarians tend to use for suit maintenance and health monitoring as their omni-tool, this version also was promoted to be easier to synch with the Quarian’s enviro-suits. In reaction to this shift in business tactics their omni-tool became rapidly popular and began selling extremely well amongst the Quarian people, even to this day a big part of the flotilla’s population decide to buy their omni-tool from UnexTech due to their more Quarian-centered omni-tool version.
Name: Medicinal Injector
Classification: Medicinal Tool
Manufacturer: Unity Labs
Restriction: None
Description: A small and easy portable device that is heavily reinforced so that it does not easily break, no matter the force of impact. The actual syringe of the injector is protected by a vacuum sealed cap so that it does not risk to be contaminated by foreign matter. This injector in particular contains a singular shot of antibiotics. Lina carries this around in the case of emergency when her suit does not have any more antibiotics to treat her, this shouldn’t normally happen except if there is a specific breach in the area where her antibiotics are stored. Lina’s suit contains a small attachment which allows the syringe to enter and inject itself, if the syringe itself is sterile than there should be no risk of infection.
Background: The story of Lina’Cirana, a shy and committed Quarian, began on a seemingly ordinary day. To the majority of the galaxy this would be a day without any reason to celebrate, however on the starship Ameerah this day marked a day of celebration. The Migrant Fleet, at that time stationed in the Rosetta Nebula cluster more specifically in the Enoch system, were gifted a treasure that day. It was graced with another member to their family, on the Ameerah both the mother Mara’Loras and the father Zemmar’Cirana were granted a daughter to their family. Lina, named after her father’s clan Cirana, was the second daughter to grace their family and to the joy of both parents they received a seemingly healthy daughter to serve as a little sister to their 2 year old daughter Leya’Cirana. And while the galaxy lay silent the crew of the Ameerah rejoiced and celebrated the birth of their newest family member. As is dictated by Quarian law most families are only able to have one child, however both parents were lucky to have experienced a time where this law was temporarily uplifted due to a decline in population. As such their second daughter, Lina, came into existence. The word ecstatic would not even be enough to describe the joy the proud mother felt when her youngest daughter was born seemingly healthy and alive, considering that the period she carried her child was rather touch and go. During the time she carried Lina she had come into contact with an unsafe amount of element zero (during an accident on the ship), while doctors had been able to confirm that the baby had not been harmfully influenced by this, her mother always feared for her child’s safety nonetheless. No doctor’s word could reassure her, the only thing that could would be the sight of her healthy baby girl. With joy the Ameerah’s medicinal staff were able to announce that Lina was a healthy baby quarian, as such they put their youngling in her protective bubble. As the baby lay there, her body protected from the harmful confines that lay beyond her warm and comfortable bubble, her family watched her with slight tears of joy and pride. Little did Lina know that another one that was able to catch a glimpse of her shortly after her birth, one not of Quarian nature. Someone who would steer her life into a path in the direction she finds herself today, and would cement her mark into her life, tied in connection with a certain color: “White”.
While Lina’s memories of herself a young child are vague to her, she does strongly remember being a happy child, well taken care of and under the care of a loving family. However the most prominent thing that has stayed with her over the course of years to come were the songs her mother used to sing to her. Before the Geth drove the Quarian from their home world there were still many Quarians that practiced their fine arts. However within the Migrant there is little time, resources and need for Quarians to develop and practice the arts of their culture, being something that was closely tied to their home world of Rannoch. Yet there are still a few that still maintain their arts to this day, in differing shapes and forms. Within Mara’Loras’ family, Lina’s mother, there has always been a passion for the Quarian arts hence its always been present among them and their custom to pass it down from parent to child. Their passion, Mara Loras’ included, has always been for the art of song which they have kept alive by singing to their close relatives and children. Lina still remembers many of the old songs her mother used to soothe her with, sung in graceful Quarian tongue, and cherishes these with great emotion. While she is not quite as adept at these songs as her mother Lina still hopes that one day she too will have the chance to sing these to her own children, hoping that they will have as many fond memories tied to them as she does.
The years that remain most prominent in the mind of our young Quarian are those of her early adolescence, upon gaining her first suit. This opened up a whole new world for her as her involvement into the social society of her family and shipmates became larger, this mostly amounting to her helping her close family with daily chores and running errands. The close relationship she had with her parents in this part of her life are one of the dearest memories she holds and there are many times she still thinks back to it. During this part of her life the relationship with her sister grew more and more, as she was rather timid of personality as such she always had her big and more vocal sibling at her side. Learning many new things while the reality of having a suit meant sunk in, these years however were among the most brightest in her life as the ship’s community opened her eyes to many of the values she upholds today. Even during these years she would catch a rare and occasional glimpse of the white asari that intrigued her so much.
The part of her life that changed her the most however are the ones before and during her pilgrimage. In the months before her pilgrimage our young Quarian learned many things, her shipmates and elders taught her vital means to survival, her parents taught her where to go for help and what places of the galaxy to avoid, her sister taught her how to fire a rifle. With that knowledge in mind she believed she was ready for the world outside the fleet, something she had looked forward to since she was very little. However ultimately the world outside the comfort of her fleet proved to be much harder than she initially expected. Starting her pilgrimage on Illium, as she deemed it fit as a starting place, she shortly found it to be a much more testing place than she had imagined. With the money provided by her parents in hand Lina had to find a place to work so she would be able to sustain herself for the moment, and start working towards the end goal of her pilgrimage. Yet in an unfortunate turn of events our young Quarian was robbed of all her possessions and funds shortly after arriving on Illium, finding herself broke and stranded. Uncertain of what to do she made a decision which she was quite ashamed to make and turned to her parents for aid, not wanting her daughter to be unable to complete her pilgrimage her parents sent her the credits they could muster, hoping that she would be fine this time around.
Determined to do better this time around our young Quarian again looked for a place that would hire her, which were rare. Eventually she found a Volus who was looking for someone to repair the eezo core of a number of ships he owned, promising high pay and a place to stay while she performed her work. Excited for the opportunity she jumped in without fully considering the risks or possible dangers that lay underneath the seemingly harmless work. Over the span of several weeks Lina put the technical skills that she had learned from her relatives to good use, working seemingly around the clock, hoping that this would get her a step further to accomplishing something in her pilgrimage. However it didn’t take her long to realize that the job she had been performing was not as safe as she had been promised, noticing that one of the eezo cores was actually emitting particles of element zero, assuming some of the ships she had worked on in the past had similar issues. This discovery was triggered to her health suddenly declining, becoming affected by this supposed eezo poisoning. When confronting her employer with this fact he told her that this was a risk she agreed to, as it was stated in her contract. Quite upset with this her employer no longer deemed her fit for the job and let her go.
Feeling quite ill and downtrodden Lina spent most the money she had earned to treat her poisoning, and while quite expensive it effectively cured her without many lasting side effects. Left with almost no funding again our young Quarian began to despair, she couldn’t face her parents again or ask them for support, she felt as if she had failed. In a last attempt to possible redeem her unlucky situation she turned to a medical company which was studying biotic ability in races which it was a rarity for to possess such ability, who were paying to research subjects. Thinking it’d be nothing more than a routine check up and small tests she signed a contract and underwent the tests they put forth. To their and her surprise they discover that Lina had dormant biotic ability, which the deducted to have been caused from her eezo exposure during her time in her mother’s womb which she had survived (this also leading the assumption that this somehow contributed to her ability to have survived her eezo poisoning so far). While Lina was surprised she did not wish to look into the matter any further, the researchers disagreed. Having overlooked a passage in her contract (small letters) it stated that they could perform extra, and even more invasive tests, if they deemed it necessary. This news shocked her and with her recent failures Lina felt that she could not turn towards her parents for help, having pretty much resigned herself to death, she reluctantly agreed. The researchers put her down for surgery, specifically for the placing of several specially modified implants to coordinate with the Quarian organism. The reality behind this operation being that the chances of her dying during this operation being very real.
After many hours of surgery it was deemed a success, and surprisingly Lina had made it through. It took her several hours to awake from her sedation, being a relative bad shape. With a few simple and minor test the scientists were able to determine that they were successful in realizing biotics to be available to her now, to a minor extent. Lina still being in bad shape was released, after being paid for her contribution, feared her her mortal well being. With no other option in mind she again turned to her parents, who in return begged her to come home so they could provide her the appropriate medical help only her kin could provide. And so our young Quarian was pulled from her pilgrimage, to spend the upcoming months recovering back home on the fleet.
While her recovery took quite some time and effort eventually she regained enough strength to return back to her pilgrimage, while her parents were worried they were certain she would complete it this time around. During the time she spent back on the fleet she had received word that the medical company who had performed the tests on her had been disbanded after Illium law enforcement had deemed several of their procedures to be against Illium law, as such most of their patients had been rewarded with substantial amounts of credits to pay for the health issues that followed in the wake of the experiments. As such Lina had come into the possession of an impressive amount of credits. Returning to Illium she wondered what she could bring back to the fleet for the completion of her pilgrimage, so she began looking for possible companies to invest in. She stumbled upon a charming Hanar named Nadara who had a small business which was researching a specific prototype that would allow for better eezo distribution, effectively allowing less eezo to be used when implemented on specific drive cores. Lina saw the potential in this and invested most of her money into his company, even working there for a while to build up her funds. Grateful for the opportunity Nadara promised her to provide her with the schematics of his prototype once it was finished.
While Nadara’s company continued their work Lina began looking at other ventures, she began working on ships again for a short while. At a certain point she was able to fix a ship belonging to a mercenary band called the “Argent”, impressed by her work she was approached by their leader. The (human) woman introduced herself as Remy Callister and described her organization as an “ethically correct” mercenary band, most specifying in protection cargo ships from possible raids. Recognizing the potential in Lina she wondered if she was interested in joining her crew, even if only for a short amount of time. Uncertain of whether the life of a mercenary would be suited for her Lina doubted herself, but was reassured with thoughts of her sisters, who would never flinch away from an opportunity like this. Agreeing to her offer Lina was taking aboard and introduced the crew, which mainly consisted out of humans, asari and salarians. In the upcoming months Lina was able to develop many of her skills, growing more prominent in combat, even discovering her talent for operating a ship. As such it became her main task, while also offering technical support at the side. Having explained her story so far to an Asari which was part of the crew she offered to train Lina how to use her biotic abilities to a certain degree. This took quite a substantial time to realize but after much effort Lina was able to use her biotic abilities in active combat, though not on a level as an Asari for example. Her work with the Argent was going very smoothly, and she grew quite fond of their leader Remy. Yet in another unfortunate twist this too all came to an end. The Eclipse were not pleased with the operations of the “Argent” in their territory, outnumbering them by far they decided to take out the leader Remy. Brutally attacking their ship with overwhelming force the Eclipse succeeded in eliminating Remy, leaving most of the rest of crew injured. With their leader gone the crew feared for another Eclipse attack if they continued operations, as such they parted ways, the Argent becoming history.
Lina found herself without purpose once more, while she had become wiser because of her experience with Remy and the others, yet she was extremely disheartened by the loss of someone who had become a friend to her. Yet when things seemed bleak again she was contacted by Nadare who told her that his prototype was finally complete. Thrilled to hear this Lina travelled to his location and received the schematics for this cutting edge device. Having obtained something unique and of extreme value she deemed it worthy enough to present to the fleet as her pilgrimage gift. While the trip back home was long and tiresome our young Quarian was unspeakably happy to return back to her family with dignity this time, yearning to see her parents and sister again. After having reunited with her family and friends she presented her gift to the fleet, which was accepted with gratitude. For a while she remained home however she realized that she had been a burden to them, even if they had not said it aloud. She had become kind of an oddity due to her biotic abilities, which demanded her to have extra nutrition if she were to maintain them to the degree she had honed them. Knowing that she would require more than the average Quarian made her feel guilty, she felt as if she could do more for her home while being away from it rather than serving on a ship. Telling this to the admirals caused them to agree with and allowed her to put herself to use somewhere else, free to return home whenever she pleased.
And so our young Quarian’s story concludes with her traveling into citadel space in search of a way she could truly put herself to use. Unbeknownst to her that she would eventually end up working with the same white beauty that had been in her thoughts since she could remember.

The research labs of 12th lay peacefully silent, after a long day of extensive studies most of the scientists had called it a day and headed off to their private quarters for some well needed rest. All but one, somewhere in the distance burned a dim light, slight sounds of mechanical devices resounding through the empty hallways. Working at this late of hour of night offered privacy and seclusion, an escape from colleges and the noise they make. Inside of the barely lit lab stood Nanami, toiling away at her work as if hypnotized, unaware of exactly how much time had passed. The slight flickering of various small blue lights, radiating from various electronic machines all spaced around the room, many of them connecting themselves to the worktable Nanami was at through thick cables. On the table lay an immense number of complexly shaped tools, all surrounding this small cube shaped object Nanami was working on. Her eyes displayed an exhausted stare as she used the tool in her hand on her device in-the-making, tiny sparks emerging as the tool made contact with it, metallic clicking noises filling the room. After many minutes of switching tools and applying them on her work she finally looked up from her workspace, this being first time she had focused her attention to something else than her work in hours.
Her back was sore from standing up so long, she hadn't noticed it before as her attention had been completely absorbed in her work. The room was hot, this being due to the various large stationary devices present in the room, all emitting heat from having been running for so long. Nanami's clothes were drenched in sweat, only the lab coat she wore over her clothes was seemingly fine. Slowly she was becoming aware of how much time exactly had passed, however it did not bother her, working so many overtime hours was natural to her. It was an escape for her an escape from having to be alone, alone with her mind that would go into thoughts and memories she would rather avoid. Working this long allowed her to escape both herself and others, as she always felt awkward to some extent as they offered to assist her. As Vice-Captain she had become accustomed to the presence of her squad members, and while most of them meant well or were trying to earn some respect or squad credibility she always felt tense by their presence. Most of them were good people, some of them trying to push her for friendship even however she didn't feel comfortable getting this close to people, not just yet...
She decided to call it a night, storing her work in progress in a safe-locked container in the back of the lab. After writing a few notes and adding some information regarding her progress in her report she calmly made her way to the changing rooms. Gently strolling through the dark hallways, dimly lit with the blue glow of the safety lights, the slight tapping sound of her feet resounding to usually busy complex of the 12th division. After making her way into the changing rooms she began removing her drenched clothing, using a soft towel to dry herself. As she removed her footwear her exhaustion begun catching up on her as her eyes felt heavy. She sat on a small bench while facing downward to remove her shoes, before lifting her head back up she leaned it against the locker in front of her. Her eyes began closing for a second but in reaction she forced herself to stay awake, sleep was not something she looked forward to as during her sleep no pleasant dreams were waiting for her. While still leaning her head she punched in the code of the locker beside her, which conveniently belonged to her. As the door opened the insides of the locker were revealed, at the top were some spare clothes however below stood her more important item. Her elegant zanpakutou stood there waiting for her return, as if it was an old friend waiting to be reunited. Her tired eyes looked at it while soft a voice resounded through her head.
"My dear child... Do not keep yourself from your rest... Do not torture yourself like this, you can overcome your nightmares if you give yourself the time."
Asamoya's calm voice soothed her mind, and while not responding directly she was sure he understood that she had acknowledged his message, following it up was more difficult to her however. Now on her bare feet on the cold floor she began removing the rest of her clothing. Quickly she jumped into the shower, cleaning herself after her hours of labor. While the hot water felt nice and comforting on her naked body she rushed herself, she always felt uncomfortable and awkward showering in a public place, even if nobody was around. After using her towel to dry herself and wrapping it around her to cover up herself (even if there was no one to see her), she picked up a spare set of clothes from her locker and continued to dress herself. Finally finished she took her sword and put it in its rightful place at the side of her hip. As she left the room she flipped off the light switch, the room going back to its dark and quiet state.
Back into the hallway she began strolling towards the exit, she was ready to head to her own private quarters and perhaps attempt getting some form of sleep. As she neared the main doors something caught her attention. A small glowing light was coming through the windows of one of the offices. Curiously she opened the door, stepping inside of its dark confines. The source of the light originated from a screen of a computer which somebody had forgotten to turn off, something that could be expected regularly within the 12th. Naturally she moved in to turn off the console and move on towards her room. On the screen was a seemingly endless list of titles, radiant green letters on a black background. The same old archive program they had been using for a substantial while now, naturally Nanami was familiar with it. While drowsy and exhausted she decided to scroll through the list to see which archive had been pulled up. After looking at several titles in the list she deducted that this was one of the archives that had cataloged testing materials, resources and subjects obtained over the years from various places. The contents of every one of these files was usually a mystery or surprise as the materials retrieved could literally be anything, usually the test performed and the progress were briefly reported in them however nothing in depth was ever revealed (more detailed require another totally different archive directory). As titles containing places, reference numbers and times scrolled by she blankly stared at them, not particularly looking for anything in specific. Only half awake she continued to do this for a while, the reason however was beyond her, she wasn't planning on finding anything. However it seemed that while not having planned on it she found something, something that perhaps for her was a grim find.
Seeing the title "Reference #0015867 - District 55: Shimazu" shook her out of her drowsy state and into a mild state of anxiety. Her breathing became heavier, her hands were slightly shaking. Perhaps what she thought was false, certainly it couldn't be from then. However the green numbers on a pitch black screen confirmed her fears, the date matched what she could remember. She grabbed one of the chairs and sat down, her head resting in her hands as he began figuring this out.
Why? Why did retrieve test subjects? It was a hollow attack, a supposed rare but generally natural occurrence. Technically that eliminates it from being a sight of interest, as there wouldn't be anything worth retrieving by the 12th. Surely the 3rd investigated the scene but those records aren't accessible from the 12th archives. Inside of her head she analyzed the facts, only to arrive at the same conclusion each time. Her eyes moved fast as she read the title time after time again, however she had not mistaken. Slightly panicked she determined that if subjects were taken from the incident's sight back then that there was more to it than there was claimed to be, something a few rumors had hinted at. She had forbidden herself from endlessly pondering about it shortly after having survived the ordeal, she didn't want to be confronted with it. Now through her discovery she was forced to do this, regardless if she wanted to or not. She buried her face into her hands, tearing her attention away from the screen. The thought had been sitting in the back of her mind from the moment she had seen the file's title, however through her conclusion she feared that her thought was right. If they did collect evidence and subjects from the sight than it would've been the bodies of the deceased, this she knew without a doubt. Chances were she would find him in that list, however she couldn't verify this without seeing it first.
Slowly she raised her head, her hands moving towards the keyboard. As she selected the file she heard Asamoya's familiar voice resounded through her head once more.
"Child, do not torment yourself... Is this truly what you want to see?"
While her mindful spirit was right her shaken mind couldn't stop itself. She knew this would be bad for her, she felt it and she feared it. However she needed to know it, being aware of the file's existence would haunt her waking hours, she had to see. As her fingers touched the keys she selected the document with dread. As expected the authorization menu popped up, requiring one to submit their clearance before possibly being granted access to said file. As her hands trembled she typed in her username and access code. She could never truly be ready to be confronted with this.
