I'm curious to hear what everyone's favorite stuff is in the multilayer. I'll start us off.
[*Note I'm still lacking the N7 Fury and N7 Paladin]
Favorite Soldier: N7 Destroyer - A walking weapon's platform with a very fitting name, destroys everything in it's path. It's nice to use those really heavy weapons I never would otherwise. Everyone says he's Iron Man, but in realty he is totally War Machine.
Favorite Adept: Cerberus "Phoenix" - The whips, while impractical lore-wise, are very fun to use as they send enemies flying in every direction. He also wears my favorite armor.
Favorite Engineer: Salarain - It's really hard to choose between him and the human, because the human's drone and overload are very good. However the decoy is simply too useful and fun to use tactically.
Favorite Vanguard: N7 Slayer - I'm really not much of a fan of Vanguards in the multiplayer, they just tend to not have interesting abilities. However if I had to pick I like the new one because it offers a different style of playing.
Favorite Infiltrator: N7 Shadow - She is absolutely ridiculously powerful and fun to use. Built correctly her shadow strike will instantly one hit kill nearly anything. Two hit kill (which you can use in rapid succession) everything but Atlas, Banshee, and Primes. Not to mention you can spam electric slash through walls, and tactical cloak is infinitely useful as a medic to save the team. The male quarian comes in close second however, as tactical scan is very helpful to the team.
Favorite Sentinel: Turian - Basically he is what a sentinel should be. His abilities can deal with any defense and have great synergy with any team. The racial passive is also very helpful. The only real flaw with him is I really, really dislike not having the human's roll or even a side hop. I really wanted to like the batarian, but his abilities are just disturbingly weak.
Favorite Overall: N7 Shadow - This is really odd now that I realize it, because I never considered myself really the type of player to play infiltrator. Typically I used to play adept or engineer. However with how she can instantly pick off targets that are troubling teammates and act as a medic to save them, it's a very satisfying class to play. I think perhaps my choice will change however once I get the paladin. I love his focus on debuffing targets, survivability, and I've got a thing for shields.
Favorite Combat Power: Multi-Frag Grenade - It's animation is simply very gratifying every time, with the omni-tool cycling and the grenades fragmenting mid-flight. It's very useful with enough force to stagger just about everything. Used up close it can devastate a single enemy or from afar an entire group.
Favorite Biotic Power: Lash - I always loved biotics for the ability to lift and throw enemies around like ragdolls as well as tossing them into the lower atmosphere. This essentially combines them into one package with a nice animation to boot.
Favorite Tech Power: Tactical Scan - Certainly not the most entertaining power out there, but I simply love gaining information on where the enemies are. That is invaluable to a team by itself and on top of that the debuff is very significant.
Favorite Overall: Tactical Scan - Honorable mention here goes to Submission Net, it's just unfortunate that it is terribly weak. They are both powers I wanted to create for my character and bioware read my mind.
Favorite Melee: Omni-Shield While I haven't gotten to use it yet, I love the look of it and I've got a thing for shields. Better yet it actually acts as a sort of fourth power for the paladin being able to plant it in the ground to defend and the ability to upgrade it with incendiary or cryo. Out of the melee I do have, honorable mention goes to the cerberus guy's riot baton light melee. As well I have a certain fondness for the basic omni-blade because I never get tried of seeing it swing out before you stab with it.
Favorite Assault Rifle: Cerberus Harrier - Used to love the Mattock and in some ways I still prefer it. However this thing cuts through enemies like butter. Only issue is it's ammo capacity, but that is a good thing, otherwise there would be little contest for best weapon. Special mention goes to the Falcon because I love ricocheting shots around corners.
Favorite Sniper Rifle: N7 Valiant - There are actually several sniper rifles I haven't used surprisingly, particularly the more interesting ones. Of the one's I have used however, the Valiant's high damage with three shots is a perfect balance.
Favorite Shotgun: N7 Piranha - Similar to the situation with the Mattock, I used to love the Scimitar and it some ways I still prefer it. It's extremely satisfying to unload the full barrel into large enemies and watch them fall. Like many I suspect it will be nerfed soon. Special mention goes to the N7 Crusader for being the only slug throwing shotgun. Also the Disciple for it's light weight and stagger.
Favorite Sub Machine Gun: M-4 Shuriken - I used to hate this weapon, but in my last playthrough of ME2 for some reason I just fell in love with it. It's very unique in that it's one of only two machine pistols in the game and it's five-round burst fire. It's a shame that it is to weak to be used on gold and I rarely get a chance to use it. The M-25 Hornet however is basically it's big brother, up to the gold standard, and I love the look/feel of it as well. It's a shame the M-12 Locust has been de-throned from it's ME2 glory days, they took away it's good damage and the nice sound it makes. It still urks me In ME3 they didn't redo how character's hold smgs, still carrying them like pistols and ignoring the front grip. Just plain lazy.
Favorite Heavy Pistol: M-358 Talon - Though it somewhat seems like a cop out to call a shotgun pistol my favorite pistol, I just love this thing. Shame it is an ultra rare and difficult to level up because at higher ranks it is even light enough for casting classes to get 200% cooldown. Though the Carnifex is pretty much hard to argue with as the best pistol, like a handheld sniper rifle that pops heads constantly, I got tired of using it quickly and I'm not a fan of it's look. I've always been a fan of the Phalanx, even after ME3
drastically changed it, sadly losing it's high power and laser sight.
Favorite Overall: M-358 Talon: It is decent damage, light enough at high rank, seems to have a perfect fire rate and ammo capacity, good against armor, wonderful in close quarters, and a deceptively excellent accuracy at mid range. Nuff said.
What You'd Like to See in the Future: I really want for them to put in some more turian, salarain, and drell.
I just love the Salarians and would love to see more of them in general. It is unlikely they would make an entirely new model, but it would be very cool to see a very muscular one like the Shadow Broker's enforcer in the comic books.
The fact we haven't gotten any more turian's yet is really just odd seeing as they are the militaristic race. Specially when they could easily fit any class and have so much unused lore in their special organizations like the Blackwatch, the biotic Cabal, or the executioners squad who's name I cannot remember.
In particular the drell have been really overlooked and I dislike they are essentially Thane clones. The cloth suit hardly made sense to begin with on Thane, even in a world with kinetic barriers. At least it fit his assassin image and was explained that it's better to for his medical condition not to cover his chest. The drell in the mulitplayer have no such excuse and I'd love to see them in some actual armor. They could even pretty much use a human model and stick a drell head on it, perhaps use some of the armor shepard used in single player that hasn't been ported over to multiplayer yet like the Hahne-Kedar set.
Additionally I would like to see more weapons from the other races. There is a huge over saturation of human weapons when the other races have been around for so long. Particularly there should be a good deal of turian weapons out there with them being the militaristic race as well as some more salarian weapons with their aptitude for inventions.
I've rambled on for long enough. I originally just intended this to be a simple list, I should have known. Anyway, let me hear your thoughts and opinions.
