So I just sat down with Joe and watched him play ME3 demo (not feeling too great atm so I let him get the honors). My first impression was... Pleasant.
It took me some getting used too since the visuals looked different from ME2, more so than I was expecting, though all in all I like them. One of the first things that I noticed was that your weapons actually sound like they pack a punch when you fire them. In ME2 the Mattock rifle was one of the few weapons that actually sounded like it would do some real damage, I'm pleased that most of weapons in ME3 so far sound like they actually are guns and not peashooters.
One thing that bothered me at first was that the sound that biotic powers make when they are used has been changed. In the initial mission it sounded really weird, less strong or resonating like in ME2. However in the second part of the demo (where you have more powers) it became clear that they actually sound stronger as you level them up (and as their damage goes up), which makes sense. The cover system is nifty though I might struggle with it at first, however its definately more dynamic and less stale than before.
The general style and feel of the game actually feels like a mix of ME1 & ME2, which they intended as they brought back many elements of ME1 whilst keeping what was good about ME2. The general interface and HUD system are still basically the same but now blue and freshened up.
All in all, its a bit early still to judge the game but so far I think it lived up to my expectations.
PS: Fuck Origin though.
