Okay guys, with ME3 literally in front of our faces I'd like to take the time to adress some things I'd like your opinions on.
#1: The Doomsaying.
It seems to be more and more trendy to openly bash a game (before its release) without actually knowing everything about it. Neglecting the obvious trolls among them there is still a large number of people who, while being serious, allready condemn ME3 to suck before actually having the chance to fully play it. Mind you this isn't an exclusive issue that is related to ME3, its just a fact thats becoming more regular in general, unfortunately so. Whatever happened to the benefit of the doubt?
#2: The Writing and The Ending.
So I've been noticing how ME gets flack for its supposed "bad writing". I'll be the first to admit that Mass Effect's writing is not pullitzer material, then there's the fact that most of the ME books are utter garbage (even though those are just spin offs and SHOULDNT be canon). Yet if I have to be brutally honest I still think Mass Effect has better writing than friggin' Skyrim, a game which was initially (and still mostly) proclaimed to be a perfect game... I'm mostly referring to dialogue options and general story here, though I'd like to avoid turning this into a top 10 about how much I think Skyrim is massively overrated. Yet regardless of how dodgy or silly the writing might be sometimes I still find it enjoyable (this goes for both ME and Skyrim btw), I hate the fact that people do not seem to understand this. Since when has it become a sin to acknowledge something whilst acknowledging its shortcomings? This is why guilty pleasures exist people!
Moving on. I've been trying to avoid the leaked ME3 endings like hell. I've read people complain that the endings are crap and in George Lucas style. I haven't delved to deep into this myself to avoid spoilers about the ending but I'm going to be honest here. Who isn't expecting Shepard to pull one big Deus Ex Machina out of his/her ass? I mean seriously? We all know Mass Effect is far from a flawless story, we've all seen how the previous games end. You could blame this on the weakness in writing however that just brings me back to why its a sin to love something with weakness? As long as we're not stepping into War of the Worlds Deus Ex Machina territory then we'll be fine! xD
I think that should be all for now. Thoughts?
(PS: Am I the only person that doesn't want to see Tali's face? I mean one of the Quarian race's most interesting aspect as their mysteriousness. Don't reveal it Bioware, you won't please everyone, there'll always be people who will be let down.)
